A Linear AC-OPF Formulation for Unbalanced Distribution Networks

Linear optimal power flow (OPF) formulations are powerful tools applied to a large number of problems in systems, e.g., economic dispatch, expansion planning, state estimation, congestion management, electricity markets, among others. This article proposes novel mixed-integer linear programming formulation for the ac-OPF three-phase unbalanced distribution networks. The model aims minimize total energy production cost while guaranteeing network's voltage and current magnitude operational limits. New approximations Euclidean norm, which is present calculation nodal branch magnitudes, introduced by applying transformation weighted norms set intersecting planes. accuracy, optimality, feasibility, scalability proposed linearizations compared with common literature using two test systems. obtained results show that computationally more efficient (almost twice) being as accurate conservative than benchmarked approaches maximum errors lower 0.1%. Thus, its potential application variety systems operation planning optimization endorsed.
